Insight's Phrase Widget

At a basic level, the phrase widget is a piece of code that you can put on your site which shows a phrase and its current ratings. The secret sauce however, is that the widget also functions as a powerful share tracking tool, a service which we offer totally free. Data collected about sharing at your site and on Insight, combined with data from our members based on community ratings for Accuracy, Agreement, and Relevancy, combine to create a powerful look at what people think, believe, and communicate about important topics in our society.

How does it work on your site?

The Insight widget sits on your site and unobtrusively appends the URL of each page it sits on for each unique member that comes to your site. When Member A sends their custom link to Member B, Insight assigns Member B a new, unique URL and stores the relationship between Member A and Member B.

If Member B then shares with 10 other people, Insight knows they all came to you thanks to Member A's initial sharing of your content. And so on.

A recent case study identified that a link pasted in an online forum produced 1,000 direct hits to the customer's site, and an additional 5,000 hits via shared links - information not previously available to the customer.

Just log in to your Insight account to see - for each URL tracked - how many members came to your site via anonymous sharing mechanisms like IM and email, as well as via sites like Digg.
